Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault-Charmes Premier Cru 2023

The grapes for the 2023 vintage come exclusively from the upper part of the Premier Cru vineyard Charmes, also known as Charmes-Dessus. The wines from this area, with its limestone-dominated soils, are more taut and mineral-driven. The grapes from the still-young vines (planted in 2017) in the lower Charmes-Dessous were used exclusively for the Village wine. The 2023 Charmes reflects this: silky and deep, with cool minerality and a long, salty finish. Its fruit is characterised by a blend of pear, peach and apple, joined in the bouquet by honey and beeswax, a hint of orange and oven-fresh baguette. A long and highly elegant, yet exceptionally well-rounded Chardonnay with enormous potential. White Burgundy at its best!
