Castello Nipozzano Mormoreto Toscana IGT 2022
Marchesi de\' Frescobaldi
The first mentions of the Castello di Nipozzano date back to the Renaissance. Today it belongs to the Frescobaldi family?who describe the "Mormoreto? as the "estate's great wine.? Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc were planted here as early as about 150 years ago; the first "Mormoreto? was released in 1983. Since 2013, the blend of French varieties has been complemented by a touch of local Sangiovese?which noticeably enhances the elegant character of this Francophile Tuscan wine. The "Mormoreto? is aged for 18 months in French barriques, followed by further aging in the bottle. The result is a complex wine with fruity aromas of black cherry, blackberry, and black and red currants. These are complemented by notes of licorice, white pepper, and balsamic undertones.
