The Liebenberg vineyard, west of Dürnstein, is one of the most fascinating terraced sites in the Wachau. First mentioned in documents as early as 1312, steep terraces facing south and south-west characterise the landscape. Paragneiss and dark amphibolite, along with calcareous soils, lend the wines their unmistakable minerality. F.X. Pichler's Grüner Veltliner Ried Liebenberg 2024 impressively expresses this exceptional terroir. Aromas of ripe pear, yellow apple and delicate herbs blend with the dark minerality typical of the site. On the palate, the wine is dense and precise, yet juicy and elegant, underpinned by spicy and salty nuances. The long, multi-layered finish underscores the provenance of this exceptional Grüner Veltliner.
