Tenuta di Biserno
Hardly anyone has shaped the recent history of the Tuscan coast as much as Lodovico Antinori.
In the 1980s, he founded Ornellaia and, with Masseto, created two wines that are now among Italy’s greatest names.

Tenuta di Biserno sits in the hills of Bibbona, north of Bolgheri. Lodovico Antinori came looking for land to extend Ornellaia and found stonier slopes that deserved their own project. He founded the estate with brother Piero in 2001; nephew Niccolò Marzichi Lenzi runs it today. Biserno is the flagship, near equal parts Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon with a little Petit Verdot. Fermentation runs in steel, then 15 months in French barriques, mostly new. Monica Larner (Robert Parker Wine Advocate) finds dark fruit, sweet spice and embers, lifted by candied orange, 96 points. James Suckling notes herbs, eucalyptus and bramble fruit over firm velvety tannins and a long savoury close, 97 points. We ship in the six-bottle wooden case, drinking 2026 to 2043.
