Louis Latour Echezeaux Grand Cru 2023

Power and elegance are seamlessly intertwined in the 2023 "Echézeaux Grand Cru?. The Pinot Noir vines, around 40 years old, grow above the Clos de Vougeot on clay, limestone and gravel; the grapes are harvested exclusively by hand. Following traditional fermentation in open vats, the wine matures for ten to twelve months in new barriques from the estate's own cooperage. On the nose, cherry, ripe strawberry and plum combine with rose, liquorice, undergrowth and subtle toasted notes. On the palate, these are followed by mocha, nutmeg, cinnamon, chocolate and hazelnut. Despite its richness, the wine remains fresh and precise, with a dense core of fruit, silky, mineral-driven tannins and great length. This is a great wine in the making, with the potential to age for decades. James Suckling awards it 100 points.
