Pese Wein is an online wine retailer based in Hamburg, whose range is tasted and selected exclusively by trained sommeliers. We work directly with over 500 winegrowers and wineries in Germany, France, Italy, Austria, Spain and overseas. Our range extends from everyday wines under 15 euros to Premier Grand Cru Classé and Grossen Gewächs. What all wines have in common is that they have passed the tasting table of our sommeliers. Only then do they go into the shop.

Bordeaux 2025 - a balancing act with a happy ending!

The fascinating thing about Bordeaux for us is always the great diversity of vintages.
Hardly any other major wine-growing region in the world offers such diversity - both between vintages and within its unique terroirs.

This is how our range is created.
In four steps.

Our wine selection is deliberately not a vendor's tray. It is the result of a process that begins with the winemakers - and ends at the tasting table in Hamburg.

Direct contact with the winemaker

We sit with the winemaker. Our sommeliers travel through the wine-growing regions of Europe several times a year, visiting wineries in person and talking to cellar masters and oenologists. This creates relationships that last for years - and conditions that we pass on to you.

Tasting on site and in Hamburg

Every wine that is to be included in our range is tasted at least twice: once at the winegrower's premises in the context of its vintage, and once in Hamburg in comparison with other candidates in the same segment. Only if both tastings are convincing does the wine go through to the next round.

Valuation according to clear criteria

We do not evaluate based on gut feeling. Four dimensions decide: Terroir authenticity (does the wine taste of its origin?), quality of craftsmanship, ageing potential and value for money in the respective segment. A 12-euro Riesling is judged by the same standards of craftsmanship as a 120-euro Bordeaux - the only difference is the expectation of complexity and ageing potential.

Inclusion only by consensus

No wine is included in the range unless all the sommeliers agree. This is exhausting, but it is the reason why there is no gap-filler at Pese.

Very good prices and a good selection. Unfortunately, I couldn't redeem the 10% welcome voucher, even after registering and several attempts. With an order of almost €1000, this is more than annoying. Therefore, I couldn't give five stars. It almost seems as if they deliberately make it difficult to use the voucher code.
