Château Ducru-Beaucaillou
The Grand Cru Classé Château Ducru-Beaucaillou in the Médoc appellation Saint-Julien has existed since 1720. It has been in the hands of the Borie family since 1942 and now for three generations.
We were all able to taste the wines from the 2019 vintage in the 2020 pandemic year at the En Primeur tasting here in Hamburg, rather than on site. "Château Ducru Beaucaillou" had already struck us then as one of the most beautiful wines of this vintage. Always a little more playful than its competitors from St. Julien and with a very hedonistic approach that is never artificial, "Ducru" once again impresses with a wonderful aroma of black fruits and lots of florality, which give the wine great freshness. An almost beguiling St. Julien: elegant, powerful with a great deal of finesse! 100 points from JEB DUNNUCK.
