Castello di Ama
About 20 kilometres northeast of Siena is this small settlement, which has pre-Roman roots. The Etruscans already settled here. Today's fort was built in the early 1770s.
Hardly any other winery has had as great an influence on wine making in Tuscany in recent years as Castello di Ama. With their top vineyards, they have created a system similar to that of the Grand Crus in Burgundy. The Chianti Classico Ama is already a perfect example of the wonderful aromas of the Sangiovese grape (96% of the cuvée). The soft tannins and juicy black fruit with an underlying minerality make for fascinating Tuscan enjoyment!
