One of the great Sauvignon Blancs of 2017 is undoubtedly the barrel reserve of the Sauvignon Blanc from the Sulz vineyard of the Gross winery. Awarded 95 points by Falstaff, the wine was macerated for 24 hours, pressed slowly, fermented spontaneously and matured in large oak barrels. The wine is intense, complex and full-bodied and is reminiscent of grapefruit, kumquat, mango and passion fruit, lime blossom and lemon balm. On the palate, the Sauvignon Blanc from the Erste Lage is juicy and multi-layered, long and full of finesse, with an agile acid structure and fine texture. A calm wine of great elegance.
