The Sauvignon Blanc "Ried Grassnitzberg? comes from the Grassnitzberg vineyard, which is characterized by sandy-loamy, weathered shell limestone soils. The "Riff? is a parcel filling from the 60-year-old Riff parcel. The wine was matured for 24 months in neutral wooden barrels on the fine lees and bottled unfiltered. The "Grassnitzberg? is not quite as well-known as the "Zieregg?, but is a Sauvignon Blanc of great originality and finesse, richness and intensity, peppery and salty, taut and crisp. Above all, the mineral tension and power of this wine, rated 94+ points by Parker, are phenomenal.
