Groote Post Winery "Seasalter" Sauvignon Blanc Sémillon 2021 This wine comes from the Groote Post Winery, which was founded in 1808. Winemaker Lukas Wentzel produces a minerally fresh and tropical fruity blend of around 90% Sauvignon Blanc and 10% Sémillon in the Darling Hills. Around 30% of the wine is matured in wooden barrels, the rest in stainless steel on the lees. The "Seasalter" already has slightly iodized, fresh and salty notes in its name. It is reminiscent of blackcurrants, stone fruit and apple, carambola, citrus notes and some pineapple and mango. There are also notes of herbs and fynbos. On the palate, a ripe, agile acidity combines with the juicy fruit. The wine has body, concentration and complexity, a creamy texture and a lively minerality.
groote Post was built in 1808 as a facility for the surveillance of grazing land. Today, the name is known mainly to lovers of excellent South African wines. Peter and Nick Pentz are the third and fourth generations to run the business. Actually, the two come from a "dairy cattle dynasty".
