Penfolds RWT BIN 798 Shiraz Magnum Gift box 2021
The "BIN 798' has long since left the experimental stage - when it was launched in 2000, the abbreviation "RWT? originally stood for "Red Winemaking Trial'. What it has in common with the great "Grange' is its Shiraz grape variety and its intensity and density. It seems almost more concentrated and opulent, but perhaps with a touch less finesse. There is another difference in the cellar work. "Only' 65% new barriques are used here - and their oak does not come from the United States, but from France. This is reflected above all in the flavour of the "BIN 798': less vanilla, but cinnamon and dark-roasted coffee beans. The enormous ageing horizon of 3 decades and more, on the other hand, is just like the Grange.
