Penfolds RWT BIN 798 Shiraz 2013
The name of this wine is a little unusual: "RWT" stands for "Red Wine Trial". Nothing is "tried" here anymore, the wine has long been established at a level similar to "Grange", except that it is a completely different approach. The "RWT", which first came onto the market in 1997 and was given the barrel number "BIN 798" in 2016, is a Shiraz that comes exclusively from the Barossa and is only aged in French oak. The now ten-year-old "RWT" has already integrated the wood beautifully. The Shiraz is reminiscent of blackberries and mulberries, ras el hanout and some malt, patisserie and vanilla. The palate is characterized by silky, fleshy, juicy dark fruit, elegant tannins and deep minerality.
