Xavier Monnot Volnay Clos des Chênes 2020

It is the particularly high proportion of limestone that gives the Volnays from the Clos de Chêne their unmistakable elegance and class. Xavier Monnot's wine from the outstanding 2020 vintage is no exception: this Volnay 1er Cru is characterised by tremendous presence and depth, creating a decidedly exciting blend of aromas with its intense black cherry fruit, distinct notes of black pepper and delicate floral hints of violet. The very well-integrated tannins and the delicate, refreshing acidity round off the impression. Even now, the Clos de Chênes is a Premier Cru that brings great pleasure, but it will surely reveal its true greatness only after a decade of cellaring.
