Despite internal competition at the highest level, the "RunRig' is still Torbreck's most famous wine. It is made from a cuvée of 98.5% Shiraz and 1.5% Viognier, which is typical of the northern Rhône. It is aged for 30 months in new (50%), second and third fill French oak barriques. It is a great, fascinating and complex wine of great balance and density. In the glass it appears opaque in deep aubergine. On the nose, it unfolds a furious blend of blackberries, satsuma plums and black cherries, cassis and blackberries, Turkish mocha with cardamom, vanilla and sternais, dark chocolate and bresaola. A perfect harmony between deep fruit, tannin and cool minerality on the palate.
