Thomas Walz's Pinot Noir is probably best enjoyed at "Im Schiff?, the restaurant belonging to the winery, which has been in Heitersheim in the Markgräflerland region since 1712. But not everyone gets to do that. That's why the "Pinot Noir? is now available exclusively as Anniversary No. 1, based on French clones rooted in loess and loam with limestone marl. The slightly transparent "Pinot Noir? smells of red currants and some barberry with notes of still crunchy cherries in combination with undergrowth, some forest soil, stone and graphite. With warmth, very subtle notes of raspberry and cinnamon are added. On the palate, the Burgundy is fresh and juicy, transparent and clear, with lively acidity and fine, perfectly fitting tannins. A Pinot with sophistication and wonderful lightness.
