Petit Cheval Zweitwein Château Cheval Blanc 2021

Merlot makes up the bulk of Cheval Blanc's 2021 second wine cuvée, accounting for around 60%. The blend is complemented by 33% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Cabernet Franc. This Saint-Émilion offers a densely woven bouquet of rich dark stone fruit, accompanied by notes of leather, liquorice and tobacco. On the palate, the "little horse' is decidedly flattering – silky, with fine-grained tannins and salty minerality. Plenty of red and dark fruit meets creamy, soft woody spice and a finish characterised by vanilla and subtle peppery notes. Just 12,000 bottles of Petit Cheval were bottled in 2021. The vintage has now reached its optimal drinking window and is sure to remain there for another one and a half to two decades.
