Tokaji was one of the most sought-after and coveted noble sweet wines in the world for several centuries. With the turmoil of two world wars, it fell into almost complete oblivion in the last century – or at least lost much of its former significance. Unfairly so, as the 2013 Aszú 6 Puttonyos MM555 from the Hungarian-Austrian team Ma'd Moser proves. After ten years of ageing, 210 g/l of residual sugar meet a highly complex aroma, dominated by candied orange, lemon zest, crème brûlée, honey and dried exotic fruits. A cool herbal note (mint) and a fine, highly elegant acidity structure balance the enormous power of this concentrated aroma. The rebirth of a classic in wine history!
