Winery Aldinger Untertürkheimer Gips Chardonnay 2021

A Chardonnay from a Grand Cru site – that is not allowed to be called Großes Gewächs. For Chardonnay in the Untertürkheimer Gips is not officially approved as such. But it would absolutely deserve the title, because this wine perfectly demonstrates how much this variety benefits from the 10–30? sloping gypsum-keuper terroir. A chalky, almost unrestrained minerality defines it, with clear salinity and racy acidity. Pineapple, grapefruit, and Seville orange add a citrus-driven fruit chord, further interwoven with herbal (mint) and smoky notes. But the dominant element remains the mineral coolness.
