Mount Mary Vineyard
The Yarra Valley, in southeast Australia, east of Melbourne. In the 1850s, Swiss settlers recognised the climatic parallels to Burgundy and Bordeaux and planted the first vines. The Mount Mary winery has been here since 1972.
Mount Mary Pinot Noir 2021
The 2021 "Pinot Noir? is further proof of Mount Mary's elite status. 100% destemmed, fermented with as many whole berries as possible, and matured for 15 months in French barriques (25% new). The bright purple Pinot offers aromas of redcurrants, pomegranate seeds, cherries, and wild strawberries, along with tobacco, cedarwood, graphite, sumac, and roots. On the palate, the fruit is elegant, the tannins extremely fine, the acidity brilliant, and the Pinot superb!
