Winery Josef Milz
The Josef Milz winery is one of the oldest in Germany and has been run in Trittenheim on the Moselle for 16 generations. The founding member of the VDP has outstanding vineyards with 90% steep slopes and 80% old vines.
Winery Josef Milz Apotheke Spätlese 2008
This 2008 Riesling Spätlese from Josef Milz is a textbook example of a matured, fruity-sweet Riesling. 40–60? steep vineyards on southwest slopes with gray-blue Devonian slate form the basis for a Mosel wine that is "old school? in the best possible sense. 8.5% alcohol meets a proud 64.2 g/l residual sugar, balanced by 7.8 g/l acidity. Many fully ripe, partly candied fruit aromas blend with Riesling's acidity and the slate's minerality, providing freshness and tension despite the evident sweetness. Anyone wishing to understand the style that once established the Mosel's world reputation will find a prime example in this Spätlese from the Apotheke.
