Domaine Faiveley Puligny-Montracht 1er cru La Garenne 2023
Above the 1er Cru "Champ Gain' lies the similarly classified climat "La Garenne' – a slightly cooler, yet flatter, site. In direct comparison, the wines grown here display greater finesse and elegance, though with less density and intensity. The stony soil plays its part. So, if you prefer the more delicate, refined style of Chardonnay from the Côte de Beaune, this is the perfect choice. This is particularly true of the 2023 vintage, whose climatic conditions were almost ideal for producing finely balanced and complete Chardonnays. It only really got hot at harvest time; before that, there was sufficient rain for healthy growth. The 2023s are dense and creamy, but their fresh, lively acidity prevents them from seeming too rich or even overwhelming.
