Located not far from Château Clinet and L'Eglise Clinet, Philippe Casteja produces a Pomerol of fine depth and silky elegance at this small winery. The nose reveals black cherry, truffle, cedar wood and graphite, damp earth, undergrowth and smoke. Full-bodied, smooth and sweet on the palate with polished tannins and fine acidity. James Suckling awards 96 points to this cuvée made from 97% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc.

Château du Domaine de L'Eglise

The winery was first mentioned in 1589 as part of a hospice and is actually located within sight of the church of Pomerol. Even if it is no longer the church after which the vineyard was originally named. it was acquired by the Castéja family, the owners of the Borie-Manoux trading house, in 1973.
