Winerey Fontodi Flaccianello Toskana IGT 2016
Fontodi
Fontodi's "Flaccianello della Pieve? could be called a Tuscan wine legend. Since 1981, the estate has been producing this single-varietal Sangiovese, selected from the very best plots. It undergoes spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel with a maceration period of at least three weeks, and is aged two years in French oak and, to a small extent, in amphorae. In the outstanding vintage of 2016 – one of the best of the last 20 years – an exceptional "Flaccianello? was produced, perhaps the finest ever. It is exceptionally fruity, well-balanced and possesses unfathomable depth. It displays the acidity and fruit typical of Sangiovese: cherry, along with mulberry, plum and lavender. Notes of mocha and spice lend it substance. Both Robert Parker's *The Wine Advocate* and Galloni's *Vinous* have awarded it the top score: 100 points!
