What sounds like a paradox has its own internal logic: the philosophy of the Louis Latour estate is simple – even though some of the vineyards lie far beyond the Côte d'Or, production always follows time-honoured Burgundian traditions. The perfect example of this is this Grand Ardèche Chardonnay: fermented in oak with full malolactic fermentation, aged in 25% new oak. It offers a pale golden colour, with aromas of brioche, freshly toasted bread and almonds on the nose, and fruity freshness, minerality and vanilla on the palate. Burgundian pleasure at a delightfully non-Burgundian price.
