Domaine Louis Latour Nuits Saint Georges 2023
This Burgundy from the southernmost of all the Côte de Nuits appellations is characterised by its dark ruby colour and intensely fruity nose. It is vinified traditionally: in open wooden vats, with full malolactic fermentation. It is then aged for ten to twelve months in barrels comprising 20% new French oak. On the palate, it reveals a full body and plenty of fruit, particularly blackberry and raspberry, along with notes of toasted bread, liquorice and coffee. During the long finish, bold hints of black pepper emerge. All in all, a fine local Burgundy with a highly pleasing price-to-pleasure ratio. Ideal as an accompaniment to a dish such as a leg of "Hogget' (i.e. a sheep in its second year).
