Doamine Ramonet Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot 2021
Situated below Les Ruchottes lies the 1er Cru Morgeot, which generally produces the most powerful and dense Chassagne-Montrachets. This was also the case in the challenging year of 2021, with its devastating frost-stricken nights in early April and resulting losses of up to 80 per cent. James Suckling describes this vintage as a "return to a classic style'. It is fresher and lighter than the 2020 vintage, which was at times somewhat overripe. This applies almost perfectly to this "Morgeot' as well: it displays apple and pear fruit, subtle tannins, elegance and vibrancy, coupled with the typical Ramonet precision. And it remains supremely supple, with an exceptionally long finish. Above all, however, it is already surprisingly approachable for a "Morgeot'.
