Domaine Ramonet Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets 2021

The 2021 vintage was not without its challenges in the Côte de Beaune. Devastating late frosts in early April left a trail of destruction through the vineyards, particularly affecting the Chardonnay. However, what did make it into the bottle was a vintage that many critics describe as "classic'. This is all the more true of the 1er Cru Les Caillerets, with its chalky, mineral and taut character. Wines of great length are produced here, usually with exemplary Chardonnay aromas. The 2021 Ramonet "Les Caillerets' displays plenty of citrus (lemon curd!) and green apple, along with notes of petrichor. On the palate, it is characterised by an exciting interplay between lively acidity and chalky minerality. A perfect example of the clear and highly precise Ramonet style.
