Winery Knewitz Hundertgulden GG 2024
The Knewitz family has played a key role in ensuring that the Appenheimer Hundertgulden – which, in the 14th century, changed hands for that very sum in gold – has regained the status it deserves. The vineyard, situated in the Welzbachtal valley near Bingen, forms the basis for excellent Grand Crus, as the soil contains an exceptionally high level of carbonate, or active lime. This Grand Cru showcases the meticulous quality work of the Knewitz brothers: a delicate, cool, fragrant Riesling with hints of blossom, citrus fruits, herbs, white peach, as well as wet, crushed stone and a touch of smoke. On the palate, it is precise, spicy, vibrantly mineral and full of vigour.
