Weingut Dr. Bürklin-Wolf Héritage Blanc 2024
Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay, in roughly equal proportions, make up the cuvée for this very special "Héritage' from Bürklin-Wolf. Grapes from vines over 30 years old are fermented spontaneously – at a rather warm temperature of up to 24 degrees Celsius – and then aged on the lees for an extended period in double barrels. The result is a Palatinate wine with structure, depth and great precision. Crystal-clear and bone-dry (residual sugar 2.4 g/l), the Héritage unfolds with delicate reduction, flint and a hint of smoke. Added to this is the tremendous tension arising from the rounded smoothness of the yeast ageing on the one hand, and the citrusy, chalky minerality on the other. A comparison with Burgundy springs to mind – yet falls short. The Héritage by cellar master Nicola Libelli is a vinological masterpiece in a class of its own.
