Winery Erwin Sabathi Ried Pössnitzberg Alte Reben Chardonnay 2022

This is one of Austria's great Chardonnays, which this year received 97 points in Falstaff and 98 in À la Carte. The old vines from the famous Pössnitzberg vineyard produce a wine that combines power and precision in an extraordinary way. The juice from the organically grown grapes was fermented spontaneously and aged for over 30 months in small wooden barrels. A wine of character: dense and concentrated, yet at the same time cool, taut, and almost ethereally precise. The oak aging remains subtle and enhances the wine's immense depth and structure. A Chardonnay with Burgundian elegance, a salty tension, and great aging potential.
