Gusbourne Estate Rosé 2018
Word is slowly spreading on this side of the Channel about the tremendous progress sparkling wines have made on the other side. The foundation for this has always been there, as the geology in Kent and Sussex is very similar to that of Champagne?in some parts, even identical. This 2018 rosé is a prime example of the outstanding wines now being produced on the British Isles. It is made from 59% Chardonnay, 23% Pinot Noir, and 18% Pinot Meunier, and aged on the lees for about 30 months before disgorgement. The result is a rosé with incredibly alluring red berry fruit, along with hints of peach and apple. On the palate, it captivates with a constant interplay between a creamy texture and invigorating freshness. A sparkling wine as graceful as a summer day in southern England!
