Vega Sicilia?but not from Ribera del Duero, rather from the D.O. Toro. After "Alión,? "Pintia? is the second side project; unlike the main Unico estate, this one is planted exclusively with Tinto Fino, better known as Tempranillo. The winemaking process is all the more complex as a result: fermentation is spontaneous?both in stainless steel tanks and in oak barrels. The wine is then aged 70% in new oak and 10% in used oak, with the remainder in stainless steel and clay amphorae?a response to the very warm and dry 2020 vintage. "Pintia? displays delicate blackberry fruit, along with plum, cherry, olive, sandalwood, and cocoa. On the palate, it is intense and lushly fruity, yet retains its freshness thanks to its lively acidity. A wine that lives up to its producer's illustrious reputation.
