"Poétique de la Terre Variation XVI.1? is a characterful Blanc de Noirs made from 100% Pinot Noir from Grand Cru vineyards in Mailly. The base wine is predominantly from the 2016 vintage, with around two-thirds fermented and matured in oak. On the nose, lemon zest, apple blossom and orange zest combine with subtle hints of smoke and oyster shell. On the palate, the champagne is taut, salty and precise, with a creamy mousse, delicate spice and notes of apple tart and toasted bread. The lively freshness, elegant structure and long, mineral finish make this cuvée – limited to just 3,381 bottles – an exceptionally distinctive Blanc de Noirs.

The red grapes from the Marne village of Mailly were already considered "first class" quality in the international classification system established by André Julien in 1816. This was confirmed by the Échelle des Crus rating system. Mailly has enjoyed 100% Grand Cru status without interruption since 1911.
