Luddite Saboteur weiß Südafrika - Walker Bay 2024
The label of the Saboteur White reads Blanc Fumé, because Sauvignon Blanc is a word Niels Verburg will not put on paper. The 2024 brings together 73 % Chenin Blanc, 13 % Sauvignon Blanc, 12 % Viognier and 2 % Semillon from sites across the Overberg. Chenin and Viognier spent about a week on the skins, ageing took place in seasoned barrels, and 30 % of the Chenin stayed in tank for clear primary fruit. The nose offers honeysuckle, apricot, orange and tropical fruit, with hay and dried herbs. The palate is rich and textured, the acidity brisk, the finish gently grippy. Christian Eedes (Winemag) awards 93 points. At 12.4 % alcohol, a white we would happily put on the table.
