Schloss Johannisberg Grünlack Riesling Spätlese 2023

The Grünlack is one of Schloss Johannisberg's great classics and has been produced since 1775. The grapes come from the 50-hectare, fully consolidated Schloss vineyard, which features Taunus quartzite, clay, and loess. After selective hand-harvesting and gentle pressing, the Riesling ferments entirely in stainless steel and remains on the fine lees until the end of March 2024. The 2023 vintage offers intense aromas of mirabelle plum, apricot, pear, yellow melon, and orange, complemented by elderflower and fresh mint. On the palate, candied lemon and quince jelly combine with juicy fruit sweetness, precise acidity, and an almost velvety texture. With 76.2 g/l of residual sugar and 8.6 g/l of acidity, this Spätlese is dense and opulent, yet at the same time crisp, fresh, and superbly balanced.
