Tenuta di Biserno Il Pino 2023

Il Pino di Biserno comes from the hills of Bibbona, just north of Bolgheri and outside the DOC. Stony soils of clay and Bolgheri conglomerate, cooled by the wind off the Tyrrhenian. Cabernet Franc leads the blend, joined by Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a little Petit Verdot. Helena Lindberg has run the cellar here since 2004. Fermentation runs three to four weeks in steel, then 85% of the wine spends twelve months in French barriques, new and used, the rest in tank. The nose brings dark fruit, blueberry and cassis, with Mediterranean herbs, eucalyptus and a fine toasty note. Full and velvety on the palate, ripe tannins, a long fresh finish.
