Domaine J. de Villebois Sancerre Blanc AOP 2025

Joost and Miguela de Willebois founded J. de Villebois in 2004 and have devoted the estate to Loire Sauvignon Blanc ever since. Their cellar sits in Verdigny, a village right in the heart of Sancerre. The grapes for this wine grow on all three soils of the appellation, on Caillottes, Terres Blanches and Silex. Sauvignon Blanc (100 %), gently pressed, fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged six months on fine lees. 2025 was sunny and dry, with cool nights running into an early harvest. We smell citrus zest, gooseberry and white peach. On the palate a straight, wonderfully approachable Sancerre focused on fruit, without giving up any seriousness. Terrific drinkability with no frills: simply good. Perfect with goat cheese from the Loire Valley. Drink now to 2029.
