Winery Dr. Bürklin-Wolf Ungeheuer G. C. 2022 2025
Dr. Bürklin-Wolf has been farming in Wachenheim since 1597, and since 1994 the estate has ranked its 85 hectares on the Burgundian model. G.C. is the top tier, and that is where Forst Ungeheuer sits, at the foot of the Haardt hills. We get 0.9 hectares from the historically finest part, planted in 1985 on sandstone with basalt, clay and loam. Biodynamic since 2005. Cellar master Nicola Libelli ferments with indigenous yeast and matures the Riesling (100 %) exclusively in large oak casks. The nose gives lemon oil, yellow peach, quince and a spice that smells of warm stone. The palate carries the power of the sunny 2025 vintage, held together by ripe acidity and salty minerality, with a long, spicy finish.
