The 2022 VDP.Großes Gewächs Chardonnay comes from the Freyburger Edelacker, whose steep, south-facing terraces are characterized by shell limestone. On the nose, the wine initially reveals notes of flint, toasted nuts, and a subtle woody spice, before yellow fruits, pear, mirabelle plum, and citrus zest emerge. On the palate, the Chardonnay possesses plenty of body and intensity, yet remains precise throughout thanks to lively acidity and a distinctive, chalky minerality. The oak provides structure and spice without overpowering the fruit. A powerful yet focused Chardonnay with length, tension, and excellent aging potential.
