"Making wine,
means understanding how to deal with nature."

The Tement family
The Tement family winery is located both in Styria and on the Slovenian side. But there is a common idea for both parts: father Manfred Tement and sons Armin and Stefan are keen to clearly emphasise the differences between each vineyard.
The grapes from the high-altitude parcels are fermented spontaneously and then matured in site-specific barrels. The cellars thus showcase the diverse potential of the entire region.
The family business is consistently committed to a sustainable circular economy and has switched to biodynamic production. The Tement family winery has been Demeter and respektBIODYN-certified since 2022.
Outstanding, spicy, mineral wines are produced, for example, on the Ried Hochkittenberg, the Erste Steiermark site, with its steep slate terraces and a mountain plateau at an altitude of around 450 metres. The Südsteiermark (DAC) classification system, established in 2018, also serves as a guarantee of special quality, which not only stipulates a restriction to local grape varieties, but also a commitment to elaborate manual labour, even for "simple" regional wines.
Familienweingut Tement is one of the twelve members of the "Steirische Terroir- und Klassikweingüter" association, which is particularly committed to wine culture typical of the region and has helped fresh, fruit-driven white wines made from local grape varieties to gain well-deserved attention under the term "Steirische Klassik".
