Grape variety
Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the best known and most widespread red grape varieties in the world. Originally from Bordeaux, France, it has found success in many wine-growing regions such as California, Chile and Australia. The grape is known for its thick skin and high tannin concentration, resulting in full-bodied, long-lasting wines. Typical flavours include blackcurrant, plum and green pepper, often accompanied by oak notes, vanilla and spices from barrel ageing.
Cabernet Sauvignon wines benefit from a longer ageing period, during which their tannins become softer and the flavours develop harmoniously. The grape variety is often the basis for high-quality cuvées, such as those found in Bordeaux and Napa Valley.
