Château Ducru-Beaucaillou
The Grand Cru Classé Château Ducru-Beaucaillou in the Médoc appellation Saint-Julien has existed since 1720. It has been in the hands of the Borie family since 1942 and now for three generations.
We were all able to taste the wines from the 2019 pandemic vintage here in Hamburg rather than in person, thanks to our partners in Bordeaux. Château Ducru Beaucaillou had already struck me as one of the most beautiful wines of this vintage. Always a little more playful than his fellow St. Juliens and with a very hedonistic approach that is never artificial, Ducru impresses here again with a wonderful aroma of black fruits and lots of florality that give the wine great freshness. An almost beguiling St. Julien: elegant, powerful with a great deal of finesse! 100 points Jeb Dunnuck
