Strict selection was necessary when harvesting the 2015 Berg Schlossberg, after a hot summer and a few rainy days in September strained the nerves of winegrowers in the Rheingau. At the Georg Breuer winery, whose pursuit of quality can almost be described as fanatical, this meant a yield of just 18 hectolitres per hectare. The result, however, is a Riesling like few others in the Rheingau. Citrus fruit meets the salty minerality of quartzite and red slate, racy acidity meets a firm structure, to which vegetal notes and a hint of tannin lend great depth. A wine that was rather reserved in its youth, but is now at its peak - and will certainly be for several years to come.

The Rheingau winery Georg Breuer has existed since 1880 and has been owned by the family since the beginning of the 20th century. With Theresa Breuer (Falstaff Winemaker of the Year 2016), the management is now in the hands of the fourth generation.
