Penfolds Magill Estate Shiraz 2014
When Dr Christopher Rawson Penfold founded the Magill Estate vineyard in 1844, Adelaide was still a small town. Today, the suburban bungalows are grouped around the five-hectare vineyard and the winery, which is part of Australia's cultural heritage. This is where the "Magill Estate" Shiraz comes from, the fruit of which is still pressed in an old basket press and then matured in new French and American wood. The "Magill Estate" 2014 is a deep garnet-red wine that is slowly entering a phase in which fruit, wood and tannin come together. The Shiraz is a full, seductive wine with the rich fruit of plums, blackberries and black cherries, dark chocolate, mocha and tamari, as well as a top note of garrigue and lavender - which is typical of this wine.
