This Shiraz from the Magill Estate, founded in 1844, was matured in 100% new oak and still looks young and yet already so sublime. This year, 70 % French and 30 % American barrels were used, which leave clear traces of vanilla and coconut alongside the oak. What is already appearing beautifully in this 2016 are the notes of lavender, violet and lilac that are so typical of the "Magill Estate" Shiraz, complemented by cedar wood, some puff pastry, crème brulée and praline alongside the rich fruit of raspberries, blackberries, cherries and plums that flood the palate with their full splendor. Give the Shiraz time and it will weave everything together and become even more beautiful.

The place of origin and "spiritual home" of the Penfolds Winery is the Magill Estate, just a few minutes from Adelaide. in 1844, Christopher and Mary Jenfeld planted vine cuttings that they had taken with them on their trip to Australia.
