Yellow variegated sandstone determines the geology of the soil in the Wachenheimer Gerümpel, whose somewhat disrespectful-sounding name goes back to the name of the original owner: Grympel. A special, foehn-like microclimate and a certain geological similarity to the directly neighboring Pechstein are further elements that characterize the terroir. The smoky and salty-mineral character of the 2021 Gerümpel also stems from this similarity, with a hint of carambola alongside more typical yellow-fruity aromas. It is not without good reason that this vineyard is considered an insider tip and the "little brother? of Pechstein by connoisseurs.

The winery, which is located in Wachenheim in the Palatinate, looks back on a history of more than 400 years. With 85 hectares of cultivated land and diverse top vineyards in the communities of Forst, Deidesheim, Ruppertsberg and Wachenheim, it is one of the largest and most renowned in Germany.
