Winery Dr. Salomon Ried Kögel DAC Kremstal Erste Lage Riesling 2022

Weathered primary rock soil with lots of crystalline slate and gneiss provide the soil for this Kremstal Riesling. Delicate, mineral Riesling with plenty of fruit and freshness grows here at altitudes between 240 and 390 metres. At 900 metres, it is close enough to the Danube to benefit from its temperature equalisation and at the same time far enough away to be largely spared from botrytis caused by autumn fog. Tropical fruit, peach and apricot paired with taut, citric acidity dominate the palate. Underneath lies a firm mineral structure. A Riesling with plenty of ageing potential that will grow in complexity year after year over the next 15 years or so.
