The name of the Premier Cru Mont de Milieu (pronounced "Mont de Miyeux') already hints at its historic location: the hill once formed a border between the Duchies of Burgundy and Champagne. The first recorded references date back to the 13th century. Today, the site benefits from a south to south-easterly aspect, comparable to the neighbouring Grand Crus. This ensures higher average temperatures and long hours of sunshine – ideal conditions for great wines. The wine comes from 40-year-old vines. It is aged 75% in stainless steel and 25% in wooden barrels. In the glass, Mont de Milieu is mineral, complex and powerful, with salty, fruity notes and a precise structure. With age, aromas of candied fruit, nuts, brioche and subtle spice develop.
