The vineyard parcel near the old chapel on Pössnitzberg has its own microclimate, which is why it is vinified separately. The great Jens Priewe awards this Chardonnay 99/100 points! This small, top-quality parcel produces a Chardonnay reminiscent of great Burgundies, yet underpinned by a cool minerality and tension found primarily in Southern Styria. On the nose, citrus zest, yellow apple, and white flowers combine with subtle reduction, smoke, herbs, and chalky minerality. On the palate, the wine is tightly woven and concentrated, yet vibrant and cool, supported by tremendous tension and a salty finish. The oak aging remains subtle and enhances the structure. A great Chardonnay with depth, precision, and tremendous aging potential.
